    Description

    Plans, creates, reviews, technical publications for flight simulators. Writing duties require an extensive knowledge of electronics and techniques to properly address the technical and training aspects of the position.  Project management orientated to successfully orchestrate the people, resources and tasks it takes to bring all Technical Publications on schedule and within budget.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Creates instructor guides, maintenance technical manuals and user handbooks in Microsoft word
    • Instructs technicians on all aspects of theory, troubleshooting and practical application of simulator maintenance
    • Provides technical direction to other technical writers as necessary to complete publications
    • Assists with budgetary planning, man-loading projections, and bid proposal estimates
    • Participates in presentations and discussions at Technical Data Guidance Conferences, Technical Publications in-process reviews, Technical Publications Verification Conferences and Training Conferences
    • Assists in planning and monitoring the activities of instructor/technical writer teams
    • Coordinates workflow between functional groups and other departments
    • Prepare and delivers presentations to management and customers

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    • Associate’s degree (AA) in electronics from a two year college or equivalent or technical school or equivalent military training
    • Eight years general electronics maintenance experience or five years simulator maintenance experience required
    • Six years of Maintenance Manual Development
    • PC literacy is required, must also be proficient in MS Office Suite coupled with a general working knowledge of data base and spreadsheet applications
    • Must have Abortext, authoring tool experience.
    • Must have an understanding of MIL-STD-3001-1
    • Must have an understanding of S1000D
    • Self-supervised, to the extent that attention to detail, initiative and discipline are requisite characteristics to successful achievement of many concurrent task efforts
    • Display excellent interpersonal skills and strong technical knowledge and business acumen
    • Self-supervised, initiative, disciplined, with great attention to detail

    Language Skills

    • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets advanced documents and publications
    • Ability to write technical documentation to include Technical Manuals, Instructor Utilization Handbooks
    • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations to management and the customer at program/project reviews and meetings

    Mathematical Skills

    • Ability to work with advanced mathematical applications associated with electronics such as algebra, exponential equations, logarithms and basic electronic calculations
    • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as man-loading projections and cost estimating

    Reasoning Ability

    • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Ability to read/understand digital and analog electrical schematics, system diagrams and assembly drawings
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables

    Preferred Skills

    • Mechanical or electrical engineering experience
    • Four years of technical writing experience
    • Ability to read/understand digital and analog electrical schematics, system diagrams, and assembly drawings

    Security Responsibilities

    Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.  Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval.  All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.

    •  Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
